On Monday, I indulged in gluttony. The famous Chef Ludo Lefebvre doesn't have a restaurant but takes over LA eateries (event titled Ludobites) for a few weeks at a time serving up a special menu . I have not heard of him until I found out about this event, but he is a pretty acclaimed chef from France who is known for his innovative and adventurous technique. He has appeared on Iron Chef and runs his "pop-up" business with his wife. Both of whom are very passionate about food and satisfying their customers. It was definitely an experience in its own and I could only wish that everyone get a taste of his culinary art.

Ludobites 5.O at Gram and Papa's, downtown

vadouvan naan bread w/ salted coconut butter

cheese cupcake, foie gras-chicken liver mousse, kumquat, cornichon

poached egg, potato mousseline and chorizo

raw waygu beef, somen noodle, candied watermelon

hot foie gras dynamite, raw tuna and lychee

caramel souffle, blanco grapefruit, fleur de sel ice cream

Ludo hard at work.

My favorite plates were the poached egg and waygu beef. I'm not sure what the big fuss is with foie gras, I understand it's a delicacy but it does not excite me. I guess it's too rich for me- both in price and taste lol. Do any of you fancy it??
If you're in the LA area, subscribe to Ludo's newsletter, he's going to have another event coming up soon! :)
