I had the pleasure of attending an ice cream making demo at Carmela Ice Cream earlier today. I am so glad to come across this creamery because they only use fresh ingredients which most are found locally. The founder, Jessica Mortarotti put together an amazing presentation. She is a very creative flavor developer and focused on infusing herbs during today's demo. We learned how to make lemon verbena vanilla bean ice cream and lemon basil sorbet. My favorite part of the day aside from seeing the process unfold is smelling the aroma of all the fresh ingredients and the samples! Any locals should definitely stop by for some of what I think is the best ice cream around.

That sounds really neat, Christine! I was just thinking about making ice cream, too. David Leibovitz has some great recipes for doing it without an ice cream maker :)
